Ethan (Eitan, Eytan) - אֵיתָן
Meaning: Strong, steadfast, firm. The adjective "איתן" (eitan) refers to a stream whose water flows all year round.
History: There are several people in the Bible called Ethan. One of them is one of the wise men of King Solomon’s time.
Citation: “And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east country and all the wisdom of Egypt. For he was wiser than all men, than Ethan the Ezrahite and Heman and Chalcol and Darda the sons of Mahol, and his fame was in all nations round about.” 1 Kings 4, 30-31 (Hebrew version: 1 Kings 5, 10-11)
