Opinion Review Noah (2014)

NOAH (2014). For those who asked for a review and those who want to know more, but don't want to go see the movie, here's a short opinion piece and some images relating to the movie.

I watched Noah (2014) on 2 April 2014. There were parts that I found very moving and beautiful - the animals moving to the arc, the utter obedience of Noah (much like Abraham).

There were, however, much (more) that I found very disturbing and even evil. So many topsy turvy symbolism that runs contrary to true Christianity are upfront in every aspect of the movie.

NOT a movie to watch without God's spiritual armour on, I would caution!

If you know your Bible, you will understand and recognize the flaws, the contradictions, the occultish, the non-canonical influences and symbolisms.

The biggest issue is that the film is NOT all fiction and the directors blurred the fiction with the facts (yes, not vice versa), so one can't just discount it as "all fiction."

The opposite is true too: facts are discredited by the creative license (the fiction), and sometimes that can be overlooked, but NOT when the ultimate message is in DIRECT CONTRAST to fundamental Biblical truths.

I will give an example: in the movie, Adam's lineage bless their offspring by wrapping a snakeskin around their blessinghand and arm. The Bible teach us that YHWH's heirs should want and have nothing to do with "the old snake," "satan." Instead, God instructs His children to annoint with oil & water.

Also, the Watchers are FALLEN angels, demons - 2/3 were cast out of heaven with Lucifer (when they rebelled against God); God sent them away from Him FOREVER - they can't return to Him as in the movie, for God is Holy.

God would surely not use demons to help His children to build an arc; He would send His Son or His ANGELS to help and protect them - like He did in the Bible.

The movie invites way too many satanic power into ones soul for my liking; I WOULD STRONGLY CAUTION FOLKS to BE VERY CAREFUL watching it; do it prayerfully and under God's protection.

One thing I know: God is all powerful and can use even our worst and evil works to increase His Glory and Kingdom. The World now knows of "a Noah" and "a Creator." It is up to each individual to find out for themselves the TRUTH.

About the Russell Crowe "Noah" movie, Brian Mattson writes the following:

"The world of Aronofsky’s Noah is a thoroughly Gnostic one: a graded universe of “higher” and “lower.”"

"Aronofsky hasn’t “taken liberties” with anything.

The Bible is not his text...."

"...Darren Aronofsky’s first feature film was: Pi. Want to know its subject matter?...
Kabbalah."

BUT WHO IS NOAH AND WHY SHOULD WE CARE ABOUT HIM AND HIS WORLD???

HERE IS ANOTHER MOVIE ABOUT NOAH that might give you some insight:

"Noah Movie HD: Noah—And the Last Days

...In the time of Noah, people were going about their daily lives, not mindful of the impending destruction. Like them, are we ignoring warnings of God's coming judgment? The Bible gives us clear signs of the last days. Did you know the Scriptures say we will see:

• Flippant use of God's name
• Money-hungry preachers and rampant hypocrisy in the church
• Wars and rumors of wars
• Denial of a global flood

But surely no educated person could believe that Noah and his ark ever really existed. Wouldn't it be impossible to fit millions of species of animals into one boat? And what evidence is there (if any) for a worldwide catastrophic flood? However...what if it did all happen exactly as the Bible says? What would that mean? Who was Noah, and why is the amazing account of his life so relevant to you in the 21st century? Don't be caught unaware. Time may be very short. Will you be ready?

A movie by Ray Comfort. This is not the Russell Crowe film." - Living Waters / The Way of the Master

37But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.40Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. - Matthew 24:37-40 (KJV)
4...God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; 5And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly...and [they, the ungodly] shall utterly perish in their own corruption..." 2 Peter 2:4-12 (KJV).

Should Christians celebrate Christmas?

Question: "Should Christians celebrate Christmas?"

Answer: The debate about whether or not Christians should celebrate Christmas has been raging for centuries. There are equally sincere and committed Christians on both sides of the issue, each with multiple reasons why or why not Christmas should be celebrated in Christian homes. But what does the Bible say? Does the Bible give clear direction as to whether Christmas is a holiday to be celebrated by Christians?

First, let’s look at the reasons why some Christians do not celebrate Christmas. One argument against Christmas is that the traditions surrounding the holiday have origins in paganism. Searching for reliable information on this topic is difficult because the origins of many of our traditions are so obscure that sources often contradict one another. Bells, candles, holly, and yuletide decorations are mentioned in the history of pagan worship, but the use of such in one’s home certainly does not indicate a return to paganism. While there are definitely pagan roots to some traditions, there are many more traditions associated with the true meaning of Christmas—the birth of the Savior of the world in Bethlehem. Bells are played to ring out the joyous news, candles are lit to remind us that Christ is the Light of the world (John 1:4-9), a star is placed on the top of a Christmas tree to remember the Star of Bethlehem, and gifts are exchanged to remind us of the gifts of the Magi to Jesus, the greatest gift of God to mankind.

Another argument against Christmas, especially having a Christmas tree, is that the Bible forbids bringing trees into our homes and decorating them. The passage often cited is Jeremiah 10:1-16, but this passage refers to cutting down trees, chiseling the wood to make an idol, and then decorating the idol with silver and gold for the purpose of bowing down before it to worship it (see also Isaiah 44:9-18). The passage in Jeremiah cannot be taken out of its context and used to make a legitimate argument against Christmas trees.

Christians who choose to ignore Christmas point to the fact that the Bible doesn’t give us the date of Christ’s birth, which is certainly true. December 25 may not be even close to the time Jesus was born, and arguments on both sides are legion, some relating to climate in Israel, the practices of shepherds in winter, and the dates of Roman census-taking. None of these points are without a certain amount of conjecture, which brings us back to the fact that the Bible doesn’t tell us when Jesus was born. Some see this as proof positive that God didn’t want us to celebrate the birth, while others see the Bible’s silence on the issue as tacit approval.

Some Christians say that since the world celebrates Christmas—although it is becoming more and more politically correct to refer to it as “the holidays”—Christians should avoid it. But that is the same argument made by false religions that deny Christ altogether, as well as cults such as the Jehovah’s Witnesses who deny His deity. Those Christians who do celebrate Christmas often see the occasion as an opportunity to proclaim Christ as “the reason for the season” among the nations and to those trapped in false religions.

As we have seen, there is no legitimate scriptural reason not to celebrate Christmas. At the same time, there is no biblical mandate to celebrate it, either. In the end, of course, whether or not to celebrate Christmas is a personal decision. Whatever Christians decide to do regarding Christmas, their views should not be used as a club with which to beat down or denigrate those with opposing views, nor should either view be used as a badge of honor inducing pride over celebrating or not celebrating. As in all things, we seek wisdom from Him who gives it liberally to all who ask (James 1:5) and accept one another in Christian love and grace, regardless of our views on Christmas.

"Perilous times shall come...corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith"

1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 8Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. 9But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. 10But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, 11Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. 12Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. 13But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Tim. 3 KJV

No More Freedom to Worship God in YOUR OWN HOME?

Eytan Yam: Remember: America is the trendsetter of the Western World.

Permission Slip from Caesar

"If I were to tell you about a city where it's illegal to hold a Bible study in your home without official permission, you'd think I was talking about a city in China or Saudi Arabia.

Well, you would be wrong. I'm talking about California. You might think, 'That can't be constitutional.' But you would be wrong again."

This also don't bode well for any Christian anywhere!

Can the government really tell a church whom to hire as a minister? That frightening question is very relevant today.

Chuck Colson

"That is extraordinary," proclaimed Justice Scalia.

"I, too, find that amazing," Justice Kagan chimed in.

As reported by the New York Times and theWall Street Journal, The conservative Scalia and the liberal Kagan seemed bewildered by the Obama Administration's unbelievable assertion that there should be no "ministerial exemption" for churches when it comes to hiring.

That's the issue at stake in the case Hosanna-Tabor Churchv. Equal Opportunity Employment Commission. Who, in the end, decides who is a minister and who is not? A church, or the government?

In his excellent opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal, Stanford's Michael McConnell, a former federal judge, notes that for "40 years lower courts have applied a 'ministerial exception,' which bars the government from any role in deciding who should be a minister.

"But," McConnell continues, "the Obama Justice Department has now asked the court to disavow the ministerial exception altogether. This would mean that, in every future case, a court — and not the church — would decide whether the church's reasons for firing or not hiring a minister were good enough."

Folks this is frightening. And I can't but help wonder if there's not a deliberate pattern here by the Obama Administration to restrict religious freedom.

Now, I'm not given to conspiracy theories, but how else do we interpret the Administration's actions over the past couple of years?

Remember last year, I warned something was up when Hillary Clinton proclaimed that "freedom of worship" was a top U. S. priority. As I explained then, "freedom of worship" and "freedom of religion" are not interchangeable. One allows you to worship any way you want in private — even Chinese citizens enjoy such so-called "freedom of worship." Freedom of religion, however, means the right to live out your faith in private and in public.

Well, not long after Clinton's speech at Georgetown, the Administration said it would no longer defend or enforce the Defense of Marriage Act — that's a federal statute!

Earlier this month, the administration announced it would not renew a $19 million contract with Conference of Catholic Bishops to help sex trafficking victims. Why not? Well, we do know the ACLU sued the government to terminate the contract because the Bishops Conference wouldn't help sex-trade victims obtain abortions!

And recently, the Department of Health and Human Services issued regulations that would force all employers — religious or otherwise — to purchase insurance that covered contraception and other "preventative care." Could that be true? True enough that the President chirped "Darn Tootin'" at a political rally.

What is the Administration up to? The Catholic Bishops are alarmed enough that they are forming a committee to press the Administration on its overtly hostile approach to religious freedom.

This is why everybody listening to me today has got to read and sign and get friends to sign the Manhattan Declaration. If you have read it already, go and read it again. We'll have a link for you at BreakPoint.org.

I think there's good reason to fear that if we fail to raise our voices now, we will be forced into civil disobedience. It's time to rally our forces. Christians should not have to compromise their faith to remain free and equal citizens.

Again and again, we must make clear, as the Manhattan Declaration states, we will under no circumstances ever render to Caesar what belongs to God.

Prosperity Gospel

"Prosperity theology
Prosperity theology or gospel (also known as thehealth and wealth gospel) is a Christian religious belief whose proponents claim the Bible teaches that financial blessing is the will of God for Christians. Most teachers of prosperity theology maintain that a combination of faith, positive speech, and donations to Christian ministries will always cause an increase in material wealth for those who practice these actions. Prosperity theology is almost always taught in conjunction with continuationism.

Prosperity theology first came to prominence in theUnited States during the Healing Revivals in the 1950s. Some commentators have linked the genesis of prosperity theology with the influence of the New Thought movement. It later figured prominently in the Word of Faith movement and 1980s televangelism. In the 1990s and 2000s, it became accepted by many influential leaders in thecharismatic movement and has been promoted by Christian missionaries throughout the world. It has been harshly criticized by leaders of mainstreamevangelicalism as a non-scriptural doctrine or as an outright heresy. Secular commentators have often alleged that leaders of the movement take advantage of their followers and that the movement promotes unwise financial choices.

Opponents of prosperity theology have given the teaching a number of negative labels, such as "name-it-and-claim-it" and "blab-it-and-grab-it".[1]...

In the 1960s, prosperity became a major theme in healing revivals. At that time Roberts and William Branham criticized some of their fellow ministries, alleging that some of the fundraising tactics unfairly pressured attendees. These tactics were prompted in part by the expense involved in developing nationwide radio networks and campaign schedules.[7] At that time leaders of theAssemblies of God, a Pentecostal denomination, often criticized independent healing evangelists, in part due to their emphasis on prosperity.[8] In the 1970s, Oral Roberts began teaching that donations were a form of "seed", that would grow in value and be returned to the donor at a later date.[9] T. L. Osborn also often emphasized prosperity at that time. Obsorn became known for his often ostentatious displays of personal wealth.[10]Kenneth Hagin has been credited with playing a key role in the expansion of prosperity theology. In addition to his radio broadcast and publishing enterprises, Hagin founded the RHEMA Bible Training Center in 1974.[11] Over the next 20 years, the school trained over 10,000 people in his theology.[12]

In the 1980s, public attention in the United States was drawn to prosperity theology through the influence of prominent televangelist ministries.Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Bakker each ran large, well known ministries that promoted prosperity theology. However, their influence on American Christianity waned after they experienced high-profile scandels.[13] (Bakker later renounced prosperity theology after being imprisoned for fraud.[14])

The Neo-Pentecostal movement has been characterized in part by a greater emphasis on prosperity theology.[15] In the late 1990s, the movement began to gain greater acceptance withincharismatic Christianity.[16] As of 2006, three of the four largest churches in the United States have been associated with prosperity theology. Joel Osteen has been credited with spreading prosperity theology outside of the charismatic and Pentecostal movements through his books, which have been widely read by adherents of evangelical and liberal Christianity. Osteen's theology has been characterized as a moderate form of prosperity theology.[13] By the 2000s, churches promoting prosperity theology in the United States were most common in the Sun Belt. In the late 2000s, proponents of prosperity theology claimed that tens of millions of Christians adhere to a form of prosperity theology.[17] Prosperity theology has been exported from the United States to Western Europe, as well as less prosperous areas of the world.[18] There is no official governing body for the movement, though many ministries are unofficially linked.[12]...

In 2007, U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley opened a probe into the finances of six televangelism ministries that promote prosperity theology. The six ministries under investigation were Kenneth Copeland Ministries, Creflo Dollar Ministries, Benny Hinn Ministries, Bishop Eddie Long Ministries,Joyce Meyer Ministries, and Paula White Ministries. In January 2011, Grassley concluded his investigation and stated that he believed self-regulation by religious organizations was preferable to government action.[19] After the probe was opened, Joyce Meyer Ministries voluntarily joined the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.[20] Only Joyce Meyer and Benny Hinn cooperated fully with the investigation; the other groups provided less information than investigators had sought.[19]"

"Question: "What does the Bible say about the prosperity gospel?"

Answer: In the prosperity gospel, also known as the “Word of Faith,” the believer is told to use God, whereas the truth of biblical Christianity is just the opposite—God uses the believer. Word of Faith or prosperity theology sees the Holy Spirit as a power to be put to use for whatever the believer wills. The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit is a Person who enables the believer to do God's will. The prosperity gospel movement closely resembles some of the destructive greed sects that infiltrated the early church. Paul and the other apostles were not accommodating to or conciliatory with the false teachers who propagated such heresy. They identified them as dangerous false teachers and urged Christians to avoid them.

Paul warned Timothy about such men in 1 Timothy 6:5, 9-11. These men of “corrupt mind” supposed godliness was a means of gain and their desire for riches was a trap that brought them “into ruin and destruction” (v. 9). The pursuit of wealth is a dangerous path for Christians and one which God warns about: “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs” (v. 10). If riches were a reasonable goal for the godly, Jesus would have pursued it. But He did not, preferring instead to have no place to lay His head (Matthew 8:20) and teaching His disciples to do the same. It should also be remembered that the only disciple concerned with wealth was Judas.

Paul said covetousness is idolatry (Ephesians 5:5) and instructed the Ephesians to avoid anyone who brought a message of immorality or covetousness (Ephesians 5:6-7). Prosperity teaching prohibits God from working on His own, meaning that God is not Lord of all because He cannot work until we release Him to do so. Faith, according to the Word of Faith doctrine, is not submissive trust in God; faith is a formula by which we manipulate the spiritual laws that prosperity teachers believe govern the universe. As the name “Word of Faith” implies, this movement teaches that faith is a matter of what we say more than whom we trust or what truths we embrace and affirm in our hearts.

A favorite term in the Word of Faith movement is “positive confession.” This refers to the teaching that words themselves have creative power. What you say, Word of Faith teachers claim, determines everything that happens to you. Your confessions, especially the favors you demand of God, must all be stated positively and without wavering. Then God is required to answer (as though man could require anything of God!). Thus, God's ability to bless us supposedly hangs on our faith. James 4:13-16 clearly contradicts this teaching: “Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” Far from speaking things into existence in the future, we do not even know what tomorrow will bring or even whether we will be alive.

Instead of stressing the importance of wealth, the Bible warns against pursuing it. Believers, especially leaders in the church (1 Timothy 3:3), are to be free from the love of money (Hebrews 13:5). The love of money leads to all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:10). Jesus warned, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions” (Luke 12:15). In sharp contrast to the Word of Faith emphasis on gaining money and possessions in this life, Jesus said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal” (Matthew 6:19). The irreconcilable contradictions between prosperity teaching and the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is best summed up in the words of Jesus in Matthew 6:24, “You cannot serve both God and money.”

<< Hebrews 5:14 >>

"American King James Version
But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."  ...

"Strong meat - Solid food pertains to those of maturer years. So it is with the higher doctrines of Christianity. They can be understood and appreciated only by those who are advanced in Christian experience.
Of full age - Margin, "Perfect." The expression refers to those who are grown up.

Who by reason of use - Margin, Or, "an habit," or, "perfection." Coverdale and Tyndale render it, "through custom." The Greek word means "habit, practice." The meaning is, that by long use and habit they had arrived to that state in which they could appreciate the more elevated doctrines of Christianity. The reference in the use of this word is not to those who "eat food" - meaning that by long use they are able to distinguish good from bad - but it is to experienced Christians, who by long experience are able to distinguish what is useful in pretended religious instruction from what is injurious. It refers to the delicate taste which an experienced Christian has in regard to those doctrines which impart most light and consolation. Experience will thus enable one to discern what is suited to the soul of man; what elevates and purifies the affections, and what tends to draw the heart near to God.

Have their senses - The word used here means properly "the senses" - as we use the term; the seat of sensation, the smell, taste, etc. Then it means "the internal sense," the faculty of perceiving truth; and this is the idea here. The meaning is, that by long experience Christians come to be able to understand the more elevated doctrines of Christianity; they see their beauty and value, and they are able carefully and accurately to distinguish them from error; compare the notes at John 7:17.

To discern both good and evil - That is, in doctrine. They will appreciate and understand what is true; they will reject what is false."
