What is the Satanic bible?

Question: "What is the Satanic bible?"

Answer: The Satanic bible is a collection of essays, composed and compiled in 1969 by Anton LaVey, detailing the basic, fundamental Satanic rituals and ideology. Its proponents regard the Satanic bible as the foundation of the Satanic paradigm, while maintaining that the book is not subject to revision nor interpretation and that no ritual or ideology contrary to what is depicted in the Satanic bible is compatible with Satanism. Note – the vast majority of Satanists do not even believe in the existence of a personal being named Satan. Rather, Satan is a symbol of struggle against a tyrannical God.

The Satanic bible is divided into four books, namely, "The Book of Satan," "The Book of Lucifer," "The Book of Belial," and finally "The Book of Leviathan." It is generally believed that LaVey obtained this hierarchy from "The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage," in which the above four demons are said to be the chiefs of hell. Each book addresses a different principle of Satanism, and serves a unique purpose within the book as a whole.

The Satanic bible builds upon the traditional secular humanistic philosophy that each individual can be his or her own "god." This leads to the arrogant and self-centered worldview that man on his own can determine truth, independent of any notion of God or higher authority. This is clearly in sharp contrast with the biblical teaching that we will be held accountable to God for all things we have done in this life (Jeremiah 17:10) and is the same deception which Satan fed to Eve in the Garden of Eden, asserting that "…you will be like God, knowing good and evil" (Genesis 3:5).

The Satanic bible argues that sin is an inherent part of mankind's character and is, for the most part, not immoral or shameful. The argument goes that Christianity chose carefully such actions which are part of mankind's instinctual drive to declare as sin in order to ensure man's continued dependence on Christ and His mercy. LaVey argues that sin in the biblical sense is to be encouraged rather than frowned upon. Conversely, the Bible teaches that sin is indeed an inherent part of human nature, for "the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can know it?" (Jeremiah 17:9). The Bible makes it emphatically clear that the ultimate consequence of sin is death and eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23) and also offers words of encouragement: "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Same-sex relationships and other forms of sexually immoral behavior are openly condoned by the Satanic bible. On page 69 of the Satanic bible, LaVey states that "Satanism encourages any form of sexual expression you may desire, so long as it hurts no one else." This is also expressly in conflict with the Bible, which makes it abundantly clear the place of sexual relations is exclusively within the context of marriage, which is intended by God as a relationship between one man and one woman for life.First Corinthians 6:18-20 commands us to "flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body."

The teaching of the Satanic bible concerning the existence of the afterlife is that there is no such thing as life after death, and thus life must be lived to the full in this world. This is the premise on which many of the Satanic teachings are based, for it removes the element of accountability. Hebrews 9:27, however, indicates that "man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." There are two ultimate afterlife destinations—heaven and hell. After death, the determination of where one will spend eternity is absolute and final. The destination to which one is headed is dependent on whether one has accepted Christ as personal Savior, through faith, and thus has received his free gift of salvation made available through the death of Christ, paying the penalty for man's sin.

In conclusion, the Satanic bible and its pertaining dogma is to be considered diametrically opposed to the key principles of Christianity. The Satanic religion is based on unbiblical and false doctrines. Eternal destruction is the only thing that will result from its false teaching. The fires of hell will be a bitter reality for those who have been taught that hell does not exist.

What is Luciferianism?

Question: "What is Luciferianism?"

Answer: Luciferianism is the worship of Lucifer as a deity. The name "Lucifer" comes from the translation of Isaiah 14, which literally means "bright star, shining star, or morning star." It is a description of Satan before his rebellion against God. Passages like Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 teach that Satan was created the highest, most beautiful of the angels, but that his pride and desire for God's own throne resulted in his being cast out of heaven and being given the name "Satan."

Luciferianism, then, is really nothing more than the worship of Satan, albeit as a being of knowledge and light (2 Corinthians 11:14-15). The focus is on the "good" that was in Lucifer prior to his rebellion and not the evil and darkness that is associated and connected with the name "Satan." Though Lucifer and Satan are one and the same, Lucifer is portrayed as a god of light, a god of knowledge, and a god of magic. Luciferian worshipers seek to become gods, and this is attained by living a life of goodness, by seeking after knowledge, by practicing magic, and by opening oneself to the cosmic mind of Lucifer in order to become one with that mind.

Groups that adhere to Luciferian teachings are few and far between, though elements of Luciferianism have been attributed to Masonicteachings, Wiccan covens, and New Agegroups. Because there isn't a standard set of dogma, Luciferian beliefs are extremely varied from group to group. For example, some view Lucifer as a god, along with other gods. Some view Lucifer as the god of the universe. This wide variety of beliefs among Luciferian adherents has contributed to the generally held belief that Luciferianism is simply a subset of Satanism, a mini-denomination of sorts. Although adherents would be quick to denounce such a claim, Luciferianism is otherwise difficult to categorize.

One thing is certain, though: Lucifer/Satan is not a being to be worshipped, nor is he anyone to be considered lightly or flippantly. He is a very powerful being and is the enemy of our souls. The Bible describes him as a "the devil [who] prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8). Those who get involved with him will eventually regret it, as he will devour their souls as a reward for their worship. "Resist him," Peter exhorts us in verse 9, "standing firm in the faith." The faith he means is faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, because He alone can save us from hell, the ultimate destination of all who dabble in Luciferianism.

Question: "What is Satanism?"

Answer: Satanism is not easily summarized. How Satanism is defined depends on what "division" of Satanism you are referring to. In contrast to Christianity, Satanists themselves disagree on their very fundamental principles. While Christians may differ in opinion or conviction about interpretation of certain Bible passages, Christians believe the same foundational principle that Jesus is God's Son who paid the price for our sins by dying on the cross and rising from the dead. Satanists in different camps argue whether there even is a Satan and whether they are worshiping him or themselves. In essence they are a confused lot bound by and to lies. John 8:44is perhaps a good summary of Satanism: "You belong to your father the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."

It is because of these lies that there is a plethora of ideologies and false philosophies in Satanism. You can be hard pressed to find a handful outside their own coven, church, or group that "believe" the same way. Some of Satanism's practices are constant, but Satanists' comfort and unity is found more in the "acts" of rituals than in the "relationship" to a belief system. It is easier to call themselves "Satanists" if they "do" certain things.

There is the Church of Satan, Satanists, Devil Worshippers, and many other categories included in Satanism. Most of them claim to have roots stemming from Anton LeVey, the author of the Satanic bible and founder of the first Church of Satan. (Side note: He presumably started the first Church of Satan in 1966. As a self-proclaimed authority on everything evil, he began giving weekly lectures at the cost of $2 per person. And thus the Church of Satan was born.

Even in their harsh disagreement of principles and beliefs, there is an underlying commonality: self. The very sin for which Satan was forever dismissed from God's presence is their common denominator: selfishness. All forms of Satanism claim that life exists to consume. Wicca demands you treat mother earth with respect and use the power that is within her and yourself, but for your own good. Devil worshippers hail allegiance to Satan and think he will guard them for all eternity; that is, if they believe there is an eternity. Some adherents of Satanism hold that the only existence they will ever know is here on earth. And thus, devil worshippers live for the moment and their creed is gluttony and debauchery.

Satanism gives its allegiance to Satan, while at the same time some in the Church of Satan believe no God or Satan truly exists. Most of the Church of Satan also believes that there is no redeemer for them or anyone else. Each person is fully responsible for the path of his own life. But then they turn around and pray to Satan in rituals, asking for his sovereign hand to be manifested in their lives. This kind of thinking is characteristic because of the influence of lies and deceptions throughout their philosophy. In light of this, some Satanists don't believe in the Satan of the Bible because he was a fallen angel—and who wants to follow a loser? The best lie Satan ever told was that he didn't exist, and his interest is in turning people away from Christ. Whether they believe in him or not is actually irrelevant to him, as long as the end result is the same—their souls in bondage to him in hell.

In short, Satanism, while it may or may not be worshiping Satan, is a conscious effort to NOT worship the one true real God. Romans 1 gives a clear look into the heart and motives of a Satanist. They have "depraved minds to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness" (vv 28-29). People who have been misled by Satan into this lifestyle have a hard time understanding God's concept of grace and freedom. Instead, they live for themselves, by themselves. Their identity is shaped by the events and seeming lofty ideologies of their contemporaries rather than in the truth of the ageless and forever true God.

Second Peter 2 contains a warning to anyone who would follow after Satanism or any other thing rather than God: "These men are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity" (vv. 17-19).

Anton Goosen initiated a discussion about satanism on his FB pages and I am disgusted and shocked at the ignorance, indulgence, stupidity, selfcenteredness, carelessness, and political correctness of the views expressed by some people.

I have posted one of my responses to their comments below:

IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF WE ALL TAKE CARTE BLANCHE & PERFECTLY INDULGE IN ALL THINGS - even in Vengeance & animalistic gratification as Satanists would propagate we should do (see below).

Society would devolve into total chaotic entropy in a matter of weeks!

Truth & Knowledge

In life, one is often confronted with "learned" people who scoff at religious folk!

One of the most amazing things about God's Word The Bible is that He addresses every aspect of life therein, even this.

He teaches us: they "...became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools...Who changed the truth of God into a lie...And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind" (Romans 1 KJV)

"An instructor of the foolish, hast the form of knowledge" (Rom. 2)

"their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly. (Isaiah 33 KJV)

So stay strong in faith in the truth and knowledge of Christ.
